Upper dolpo trek is remote, hidden and controlled trekking destination of Nepal, where Nepal’s most tranquil and natural beauty is still unexplored. Upper dolpo trek crosses the three high passes of dolpa region like Kagmara La 5115m, Baga La (5190 m), Numa La (5159 m). Dolpa region is located behind the Dhaulagiri massif, towards the Tibetan Plateau inside the Shy Phoksundo National Park in mid western Nepal. Special permit is required for trekking in upper Dolpa provides an experience not easily forgotten because Dolpo area is hard to match for its surreal beauty and stunning charm. You can see the wildlife like Blue sheep; musk deer, mountain goat, jackal, wolf, leopards and different Himalayan birds in this region. Dolpo region is the natural picture of high passes, rare flora and fauna which is enriched with the Tibetan cultural heritage.
Upper dolpa trekking provides remarkable and worthwhile lifetime experience. Shay Gompa, Kanjiroba peak, Phoksumdo Lake and Dhaulagiri massif etc are the highlight of upper dolpa, protected by Shey-Phoksundo National Park. Dolpo was opened for trekking since 1990 for foreigners it required special trekking permits. Single trekking is not allowed in Dolpa region in this way group trekking is recommended.
