Nirekha peak climbing

Nirekha peak climbing 6186 m

Nirekha peak climbing in Nepal; Nirekha is one of the beautiful snow-capped peaks concealed deep in the Himalaya close to the Tibetan limit all along the Mahalangur Himalayan Range. Squeezed in between the snow giants of Everest region, Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Cholatse, Mount Nirekha sets up an idyllic alpine ambiance for a wonderful and mesmerizing mountaineering experience.

Newly classified as a group “A” climbing peak by Nepal Mountaineering Association in 2006, Mt. Nirekha peak was first ascended in 2003 by Matt Florets and Gerg Valentine. It holds record of second successful ascent by a women’s team in October, 2003. The peak boasts relatively straightforward and do-able climb with elevation just above 6000 meters (6186 m) from the sea level. However, some technical complication at places above the base camp requires the proper use of climbing equipment’s such as ice-axe, crampons, and ropes.

This wonderful adventure habitually begins at Luka after a marvelous flight from Kathmandu. The trail from Lukla heads along the naturally treasured trekking path to discover the mesmeric appearance of Gokyo valley. From here we follow the narrow and wavy trail passing by the Cho La pass to eventually end at Nirekha base camp. The alpine scenery from here is incredible.

You will be fascinated with the eye-popping views of majestic Himalayan range including the mighty Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Cholatse, and many more. From Nirekha base camp the climb is so much technical.

Nirekha peak climbing is festooned with two summits; North summit and South summit. Both the summits set up a technical ascent with tough clefts and steep ices at places. So, Nirekha peak climbing is a perfect take to all who aspire to relish the quietness of nature and challenge of technical climb.
